Nursery painting- the finished product
Well, we have finally finished painting the nursery after two long weeks of daily effort. But as you can see, it was well worth all of the hard work. We are quite pleased with how it turned out. The next task is to build up our crib and dresser/changing table (once we get a shed so we can move our shoes, road bikes, etc. out of that room!). Having babies is so much fun!

Wrapping up the nursery
We've finally made it to the stencils (that's what I'm cutting out in the first photo!) and the last of the stripes (with painting tape still attached!). It's finally looking good and was definitely worth all of the hard work.

Baby gut continued
This is the baby gut at week 26. I've already gained 20 pounds! One more week and I am in trimester three. Scary!

Musicals
We spent the day in LA with our friends Stephen and Courtney and saw the musical The Drowsy Chaperone at the Ahmanson Theater. Very amusing! Last month, Andreas and I saw another musical called A Chorus Line. Sometimes it's not a curse living so close to LA!

My moment of glory
Andreas let me paint two of the small brown stripes in the nursery, but he made me wear a face mask! This was indeed my two minutes of glory- at least I can say I participated in the painting!

Day 4- Nursery time!
Today Andreas painted the top half of the full walls haycorn brown. It's all coming together now! Can't wait for the finished product.

Day 3- Nursery time!
This is day 3 of nursery painting. The last 2 walls were painted another shade of pink, but don't worry- we aren't finished yet! Hopefully it won't look too too girly by the time we are done with it. Tomorrow and the rest of the week will be painting the brown parts of the big walls and the stripes on the partial walls. Then we get to do the stencils! Yippee!

Nursery time!
Andreas and I started painting the nursery today! Yey! Actually Andreas did the painting and I did the cleaning and taping. As you can see, he's got a butt crack that rivals the best of any plumber's butt crack. I think I'll dub this, painter's crack. Sometimes you miss out on really cool things when you're preggers... next time though. So we've finished up with the bottom half of both full walls (the light pink you see here) and tomorrow we will start on the other two partial walls. We'll give updates on our progress. Fun times!

7 years of happiness
July 12, 2008- Our 7th year anniversary. Ah, time flies by so fast. It feels like just yesterday that we met in Perth on a 12 day adventure tour. We decided to celebrate by going all out on an expensive dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The food was incredibly tasty, and I'd say unforgettable. The baby's favourite part was the flourless chocolate ganache cake- she started doing the jig!

A bikini shot
I can't believe I'm doing this... but since my mother took the photo, I feel compelled to use it. I swear I have only gained weight in the stomach region (yea right!). This is me at 23 weeks and a bit.

Gap Fire in Goleta, CA
Here are a few photos we got from our friend to show you what the Gap fires near our house looked like (1st photo- black smoke over Goleta, 2nd photo- the many spot fires in the mountains). They were about a mile away or so from our apartment and covered over 9,000 acres. Out of 335 fires currently burning in California, our fire was number 1. Arnie finally declared it a state of emergency on the 5th day of burning. Check it out when it was at its worst. We wisely took refuge in San Diego for the worst of it.

San Diego- the Gap fire escape!
Ignorance is bliss. While Goleta was in flames, Andreas and I spent a week+ in San Diego. Apart from racing Supermario Karts through Moo Moo Meadows, we spent most of our time with the family. We celebrated my sister Jenn's 36th birthday on the Bahia Belle (cruise around Mission Bay), as well as the 4th of July at Adam's posh apartment, watching the beautiful fireworks.
